The theme for this year's show is The Elements. MVC will be showing 8 looks, two representing each Element; Earth, Air, Fire, Water. The Elements inspire, bringing tone and color, shape and feeling, but these are not literal interpretations of the ideas. They are whispers, memories, dreams and musings.

miss velvet cream presents:
The Elements; Earth, Fire, Water, Air. The building blocks of all life on Earth, the essence of mystical illuminations and the poet's muse. miss velvet cream interprets each of the Elements in the medium of dress, art that wraps the body, that is given life by the Spirit of the wearer as each one of the models embodies an aspect of the element they represent. For Hot Couture, The Elements, miss velvet cream gives you a spell woven around the body, a prayer and a memory, a distant echo, remembering the deepest part of You.

miss velvet cream is especially delighted to welcome a first time collaboration with Leather Artists DAO POW INDUSTRIES. All the pieces are made in their studio here in the Bay. For the show, we have been collaborating via sketches, texts, messages and photos sent back and forth brainstorming ideas and creative cross-pollination.

Like miss velvet cream, all Dao Pow Industries pieces are one of a kind, made to last for a lifetime, and made by the hands of the artists themselves.
The pieces will be put together for the first time at the show. We are all excited to see the work together, the manifestation of ideas and conversations into material form!

Dao Pow Industries Artist Statement:

"Most leather fashion is from cheap, poorly tanned cowhides and junk hardware.

We hand-make leather pieces that will last generations.

We only use solid brass hardware (often intended for saddles, since that is the strongest) and mainly full-grain leather from the top three tanneries on the continent (arguably, the world): Horween, Hermann-Oak, Wickett&Craig. Every piece we make is hand cut from a full hide. In terns of construction, we are heavily influenced by old-school saddle and holster making --- these are a step above those used for most fashion in terms of quality despite being less targeted at aesthetics.
Our ideals are clean lines and the heavy feel of quality. Our pieces should never break, degrade or disappoint. The leather and hardware used will age beautifully, as only fully tanned, full grain leather can."
